Korroth chose to use the offered distraction to  nimbly move in beneath the flailing tentacles, the backs of this machine's knees looked softer, and that was where he'd aim his strike. Still it was metal on metal, and even as strong as he was, the resounding clang of of the hit told him he'd just have to hit it harder.

Fi's eyes widened in shock as the sorcerer's mechanical mount sprouted pincher-tipped tentacles.

"Unfairness!" she muttered emphatically under her breath. Still, the bubble wasn't clear all the way to the back, limiting the sorcerer's range of vision.

From the shadowed stacks, Firanis burst in a sprint, long legs eating ground as she dashed around the sorcerer and its sorcerous conveyance. With a last tuck and roll, Firanis came back up on a knee, boltcaster braced against her shoulder and fired after a bare instant of aiming, trigger pulled with a controlled exhalation.

The fire-hardened bolt slammed into the base of what passed for a spine on the bipedal automaton with a loud crack.

"Doom is overrated and so are you, sorcerer!"

Korroth nimbly dodged the claw-tied tentacles, and grunted.  He wanted to bring this Sorceror down, and channeled that anger into another swing at the back of the walker's knee joint.

With an almost primal shout, he brought his sword around, and grinned with satisfaction as it found purchase.

Long legs flashed through the air as Firanis flipped and cartwheeled away, the storm of lashing tentacles unable to find purchase. When she finally had a moment to breathe, she quickly cranked her boltcaster, a bolt sliding into place with a tactile click. She lined up a shot, taking care to avoid striking her roaring barbarian comrade, but as she was about to press the trigger, another razor-edged tentacle swung her way.

Fi flinched back at the last second before the tentacle could wrap around her throat, her bolt going wide, spanging off one of the mysterious stacks with sparks of actinic light.

"Fallen Moon!" Fi cursed as she scrambled back to her feet and started cranking her boltcaster once more. She noticed the automaton sprout another of those cursed, baleful eyes, its emerald glare lancing towards Pat and cursed again. "Fallen Moon!"

626 leapt sideways from the green blast like the beam was moving in slow motion. A damaged medical unit was an ineffective unit, after all. It's processing split into three sub routines in the skitter-step of combat. Sub routine One: the enemy maker had terrible aim and failed to hit any of 626's allies. Sub routine Two: The girl hadn't been targeted, thus was of some value to the enemy. Sub routine Three: The enemy needed to be stopped.

Sadly, the metallic arachnid's attempt to resolve that final thread came to nought, it's pistol shot going as wide as the green beam.

Metallic Tentacles Thrash about almost at random smashing tables and shelves sending bottles and instruments flying, one of the tentacles strikes Aazea  knocking her into a table.

Then with a mighty swing of his massive blade Korroth cuts into the robots leg smashing the joint and severing the lower portion from the rest. The robot whirling gyroscopes keep it from toppling but it is no longer mobile as it totters and hops in place turning this way and that, tentacles now focused solely on the sword wielding barbarian!

Spoiler

Aazea take 5 damage minus your armor.  next round first defense if you succeed go ahead and take your action

A fierce grin on her face as Korroth severed a mechanical leg - and incidentally drawing all the sorcerer's attention - Fi darted around the automaton, seeking to send another bolt into its back. But she was not as in the clear as she thought, her long, lean fire not escaping the eye of the sorcerer as she was completely blindsided by his attack.

The tentacles seemed tpo thrash uncontrollably, randomly but some how one of them whipped around Firanis yanking her off the ground and sqeezing, sqeezing making her ribs ache as the robot crushed her!

Another Tentacle whipped down through the space where it's leg once was and slashed across Korroth hurling him backward off his feet. And all the while the green beam of death flashed out trying to strike 626, while they lithely darted hither and yon on metallic spidery legs causing the death beam to tear up the lab!

Spoiler

Firanis takes 5 damage and Korroth takes 10... make sure to apply any armor. next turn

"Your robot's ridiculous design is causing you to destroy your own gear. There is a reason the Old World didn't mass produce two-legged war machines of such scale," commented the spider mech with what sounded like snide dismissal of their opponent's design choices, using it's evasions to close the gap between it and it's barbaric ally.

It landed with a clang muted by the recoil absorbers in it's limbs, extending a flexible injector from between it's forelimbs, the disinfected needle glinting in the light of the ruined lab. "Hold Still, Friend Korroth," 626 intoned, pausing just long enough for a look of recognition before jamming the needle into his shoulder and pumping a dose of life-saving gel to do it's regenerative work.

Spoiler

One HD worth of healing for Korroth.

Korroth hadn't been hit that hard in a long time, letting out a grunt in pain.  his armor took some of the brunt of the impacts, but he couldn't take more than one more hit like that.  Then like it was nothing, 626 was there injecting him with a gel that healed most of his injuries.  "Thank you 626.   Now, let's put this madman down."

Seeing Firanis being grabbed by the robot, he moved sword in hand to sever the offending tentacle and release his friend from its metallic grasp.  Sadly, his injury slowed him just a hair as he narrowly missed the tentacle with his sword.   He was still injured, though not so heavily as before.  He was annoyed by it,  clearly he needed to practice more.

Aazea, gasping in pain from the blow she'd taken, looks around wildly and shouts, "SLUG!!"

The flying ferret makes it's little chirping noise from the flickering light fixture high up overhead.

The greenskin sorceress aimed her staff to transform her friend into a powerful creature to help them in this fight...when a freshly-hurled Korroth grazes her as he sails through the air! The magic pulse goes wide, striking the light fixture instead of the birret and twisting it into a weird, psychadelic hue!

The metallic tentacle wrapped around Fi's torso, cinching so tight breath left her in an explosive gasp, her ribs creaking under the strain. Her boltcaster clattered to the ground, the trigger jostled enough to send the bolt sailing through the air after Aazea's prismatic shaft of magic and narrowly missing the birret.

"Damns you, sorcerer! Blood and ashes" Fi cursed in breathless vehemence as she struggled to free herself. Long fingered hands on the writhing tentacle, she tried to heave herself out, then relaxed and attempted to slide out below, but the tentacle just continued to inexorably tighten, spots of black starting to stain her vision as she struggled to breathe. "I... hope... you... choke... on... pox... and... and... pus!"

Fi writhed in the grip of the tentacle as she was whipped back and forth, she could see the sorcerer in his bubble laughing but the only sound she could hear was the battle and the sounds of destruction and her own rapidly beating heart.

Then with a last flourish the robot flung Firanis away toward a far corner where shelves and chemicals had been blasted by the wayward deathray and now stood as a skeleton of sharp twisted spears ready to pierce the young woman's flesh and burn her with horrible chemicals. She tried to twist away but the deadly wreckage grew closer and she closed her eye knowing her end was there.

But it wasn't.

Everyone watched in horror as Fi was thrown toward certain death and there was nothing any of them could do but then, suddenly, she stopped. Floating a brief moment in midair, slowly revolving into an upright position and  lowered to the floor as soft as a feather. Just beyond her between the burning corner of her would be death stood the cage with the girl who now was pressed up against the bars one arm outstretched through the bar moving in unison with Firanis' movements!

Spoiler

the robot expended it full action hurling Fi to her doom. so no defense rolls needed. fi does take 2 more points of damge armor does not hel fromthe vilent shaking she took but she is now free and onthe floor again.  take your turns and stop missing.

Korroth brought his sword around again, aiming for where the tentacle connected to the robot, and still his sword failed to find purchase, which got a vocal response.  "Motherfucker!" he practically roared, never had he felt so useless.  His friends were getting hurt because he kept failing, and it was stoking a fire in his Barbarian heart.

Fi's heart pounded like a skin-drum at the realization she was still alive. She ached from being crushed and flung about by the tentacle, breathing hurt, but she lived. She grinned, revealing a hint of her delicate fangs. Witch or mutant or some other strangeness of the Broken Earth, the girl had saved her life. It seemed meet that she do the same, and perhaps, the girl could help them defeat this troublesome wizard that luck seemed to favour.

Firanis scampered around the wreckage of twisted spars of metal and caustic chemicals for the girl's cage, not incidentally putting more distance between her and the sorcerer and its autonomous steed. She frowned for a brief moment when she found the lock. It was not one of keys and tumblers, but one of buttons and incandescent numbers. These were more difficult to tickle open, but not impossible.

"Me, I will have out of this cage in those tics and toks I said before the sorcerer showed himself," Fi claimed with boastful assurance.

Matte black blade in hand, she tapped the square box of the lock, then studied the buttons on its surface. Some seemed more worn than others, these must be the ones most used. There would be a pattern, a key made of numbers to open it. Tentatively, she gave one button a push. Beep. A number appeared in a glowing window surmounting the box. Fi's grin widened. She push another button. Beep. Another. Boop. One more. Beep. Numbers filled the window. Good! Now, there should be one more to tell the machine to accept my command... Ah!"

Most of the buttons were a dark grey, but there were two that were not. Fi's finger glided over green one to hover excitedly over the red button. Red Buttons always did things! True, sometimes the things they did were on the cataclysmic side, but it was always something. She exuberantly jabbed the red button...

Bzzrt!

Bouncing on her toes, the tall and lanky Strange One waited expectantly. The cage remained adamantly closed. Her shoulders slumped.

"It did not go boom, this is good," Fi told the girl, looking on the bright side. "Me, I will try again, and you, you will help us with this hawati warlock!"

"Hold Still, Friend Fi," came 626's voice from over her shoulder, the arachnid construct having made it's way to the pink-haired rogue. Snicker-snack went the needle into her arm, pumping her full of healing bio gel. The tentacle withdrew, and 626 was away again, prowling towards the next closest ally in need of care and repair.

Everything was going really bad! Aazea rubbed her belly, pained and planted one end of her staff on the ground to help herself get back up. Things looked bleak! That could only mean one thing...

She inhaled deeply, ignoring the twinge of pain in her abdomen, and shouted at the top of her tiny lungs...

"SSSSSSSSLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG!!"

The adorable little birret cheeped and zoomed into the chamber, landing in front of Aazea with his head tilted quizzically. The sorceress aimed her staff at him, and unleashed a seething green bolt of energy at him!

And Slug...began to change.

In seconds he grew from a tiny, cute little flying ferret into a man-sized ferret beastman, with crazed eyes and sharp teeth and quivering, jittering movements. He whirled, twitching, to face the towering robot creature and without a shred of fear or hesitation launched himself at it! Metal shrieked and sparked under his claws as he growled and mewled, trying to get at the delicious meats contained within!

(Per roll in Discord, Slug hits and does 2 damage before any armor reduction it has.)

The girl in the cage scowls and shakes her head to clear it as the heavy fog caused by the energy filed which had run through the bars of the cage fade after the fight disrupted the power. "Attack the glass!"  She yells as she gestures forcefully at the robot with her open hand, then twists her arm and slashes down!

The robot tottered as if a heavy force had hit it, unbalancing precariously on its one leg then all of the sudden the robot flips onto its side and smashes to the floor with a resounding crash!

The girl in the cage slumps against he bars blood running from her nose.

As the robot fell, Korroth moved quickly, standing within easy reach of the glass bubble.   While he would never claim to be the strongest of the Barbarians, he was not weak, and his Rage was enough to keep up with the the greatest warriors.   He brought his sword down on the glass with all his might. The blow was indeed mighty, and shattered the glass at once.   There was the hint of a satisfied smile curling his lips, and he knew this sorceror wasn't long for this world.

626 paused, gel injector half-way retracted back into it's carapace as the girl enacted her revenge against her captor. The mechanical arachnid was aware of enough prisoners escaping to be wary of the fury of the desperate, the measures needed to retake them alive. Neglect of self was common in these cases, even barring the limit surpassing stress magic users could place on themselves. It's data banks hummed fruitlessly towards the urgency of care versus the certainty of harm the flailing Scientist-Lord might inflict on his way out given a chance to recover.

Solution? Shoot the threat until it stopped moving or anyone else showed signs of urgent triage.

"My grati, Pat," Fi chirped with relief, rolling her shoulders at the easing pain. She gave the mechanical spider a grateful pat on his carapace. Seeing that Korroth and Aazea - or at least, the sorceress' pet - seemed to have the sorcerer well in hand for the moment, she turned her eyes back to the cage and the girl sagging limply within. She grinned and clapped her hands in anticipation. "Now, girl, we try again. No booms... probably."

With renewed vigor and will, Firanis went at the damnable, wizardly lock, knife prying at the casing so she could get at the arcane innards. She pried and twisted and manipulated the metallic worms inside, cursing when one bit her with an electric spark. But then there was a click and a kerchunk, and the lock disengaged, the cage creaking open.

The tall, wiry young woman slipped inside the cage and caught the girl before she slumped to the ground. She ducked low and got the girl's arm over her shoulder and wrapped an arm around her waist to support her. "Me, I got you, girl."
