SCION COMBAT THREAD

Tenchi nodded imperceptibly to everyone save Raiko, and in a display of wordless communication between twins, they acted seemingly of one mind.  Tenchi attacked the Giant there by Ali and Val, swinging the mountaineer's axe with savage strength.

Ali saw the last one coming towards Raiko, and pushed himself through the snow, catching the final giant by surprise and bringing the axe into its side.

Action passes to Raiko

all the blue men are down at the sno cat  but the horn is wailing from back in the town... the note is clear much clear than should be possible in the wind and at the distance

Well, I guess we'll be piling back into the cat and gunning it back to town. God help and flora, fauna, geology, architecture or giant blue men that get in the way. Raiko's gonna help anyone who needs helping into the truck. Gonna let Tenchi drive though. The others will probably thank them for it later. Raiko's driving could probably best be described as Enthusiastic. Her driving Tester probably retired after she went through it.

*Fluff starts below*

Raiko offers a wordless nod of thanks to Ali as he takes the last Giant as it pelted towards her, noting his clear discomfort and hesitance while doing so. The immediate surroundings clear, she's about to thank him properly when the Horn echoes through the night, leaving her with a feeling like someone had poured ice water down her spine. That was probably not good. Proper thanks could probably wait till they were all fully out of danger. For now, they'd have to get back to the village.

"Tenchi," she bellows over the roaring wind. "Get the lead out, we have to get back. Everyone else, back inside." She moved to help the others back into the truck and get them moving back to the others. Tenchi would handle the driving, he'd get them back, and pity anything that got in between them.

Skipping Val and Kamala's turn for the remainder of this round. I will finish the round atthe shed. I am post the snocat round .

Juno it is your action there. Tryfon is outside the giantess is blowing her horn she threw her axe at try and missed it is now stuck in the wall the other giants are attacking the shed wall attempting to pull it apart.

there are 3 giants and the Giantess left at the shed.

Juno pushes everything in her head away and her concentration narrows to a point. For a second all the chaos has fallen away, and she feels like she's on the range again. Knees and shoulders relaxed. Alert, but not hyper-alert. Behind the giantess she spots a curl of snow wafting in the wind and adjusts her aim slightly. It's...a clarity that falls over her. For a second she can almost see the path the bullet will take outlined in the air before she even pulls the trigger, like tracers that come before the shot.

The gun goes off, a loud CRACK that pierces the din.

Ok, Juno takes another shot! It is too late at night for me to have it in me to chase down the new momentum thing, so I's just gonna shoot.

So! That is at least 7 successes I think, with the Ranged and Firearm tags. Juno's knack gives the gun Brutal as well, and a Pistol has the Piercing tag which reduces the giantesses' armor. She'll inflict injury, and buy as many critical  damages as she can with the spare successes; each one is 3 instead of 4 due to Brutal.

You can only perform a given stunt once each round so it is only possible to normally deal a maximum of two injuries per round to a given target. if there are still enhancements left over remember there are other stunts. combat in storypath is all about the stunts you buy. be creative and narrative.

Round three

Stacy throws her self back into her seat once she is on the cat again and begins reloading her pistol.

the giantess gurgles and staggers back to her feet but she looks hurt and now covered in blue blood.

it is once again Kamala's action

Tenchi will police the weapons, having Raiko help him, they may prove useful later since they're heading back to the sounds of gunfire.   That done, once everyone is aboard the snow cat, he will take his place in the driver's seat and get them headed back to town, and the shed they left the others at.   "That was good work in a confusing and terrible situation.  You all did really well."   He'll cast a sidelong glance to Raiko  "thanks for having my back.  I can always count on you."

Try will clamber up from his prone position, reach down with his axe and swing it towards the heavens from somewhere deeper than his toes, delivering an uppercut with said axe. Spending 2 momentum.

Fluff

Swearing in her native Kurdish as she narrowly avoided getting concussed by the case, Kamala grabbed grabbed a baton from the pile of weapons in the scramble of getting out of the wrecked vehicle. And froze as she saw a battle line of giants forming up around a furred creature even taller than the warriors around it. Warriors who formed icy shields out of nothing.

Well, that tore it. They were in full on myth country, the realm of Mem and Zin, the Dimdim revolt, Khej and Siyabend, and bald-headed Kecelok.

The fact the first three of those stories were tragedies was not lost in this moment of silent cacophony before a struggle for their lives, a fact that made her angrier than she'd let herself be in a long time of being terrorized by Turkish guards, Russian bombs, religious fanatics, and Syrian thugs. A lifetime of not being able to hit back without three-fold punishment and lost ground and lost potential and lost security and lost... At some point of her thoughts chewing themselves in circles, the Refugee midwife realized she had charged the line of giants, screaming 'No! Not Today!' over and over and swinging her weapon with the intent of finally hitting back.

What more could they do, kill her?!?

Ok we are having some difficulty with initiative. The number you rolled is not necessarily the number your character goes on. they are action slots. when your number comes up your character may take an action OR you may pass your slot to another character who then goes in your turn, with you falling to the last slot. The character who acts then waits until his next turn to act on his original number in the next round.

Actions follow in order, except where changed by passing to another.

Now above on the first action turn Stacy passed to Tenchi who in turn passed to Raiko.

Raiko has not acted or passed, as far as I know. but  then Ali skipped ahead and passed to Kamala who has acted.

So to keep the integrity of the turn. we will say that Raiko passed to Ali who passed to Kamala and so we have completed the first action turn and next is the troll who passes to the half giants who charge, all but two who both strike at Kamala whose attack was blunted by her targets Ice shield.

All character need to make their defense roll if they wish as all are being attacked.

Post your new defenses here asap and i will resolve the attacks.

thank you.

Defense is rolled using  one of your resilience attributes; Stamina, resolve, or composure. for normal defense you roll your choice of these attributes. for full defense you roll the attribute doubled. apply successes to either your defense score or to defensive stunts. successes may be split between both. Taking a full defense precludes any other actions that round.

The giants charge into the frey and attack most of you Tenchi, Raiko Ali, Kamala, Stacy, and try all have two giants on them. Kamala took one of hers out with her charge but he other smashed her with it's ice shield knocking her down. Kamala's has a condition of knocked down which gives her a +1 complication to fight from that position. she can use a reaction next round to stand but that will give the enemy a +1 enhancement to hit her while she does so.

The giants also grew long wicked ice swords on their hands as they charged.

Ok Kamala acted after multiple passing so next up would be Val but with mala absent we go to Juno

Juno is up

Beset by two of the of the half giants, like everyone else, Tenchi went on the offensive, now armed with a type of weapon he was intimately accustomed to.    He lashed out lighting fast with a powerful slash as his opponent shifted his shield, the blade slicing clothing and blue flesh as easily as paper.   It was enough to end the life of one of his attackers in a moment, as the half giant fell back, lifeless, and Tenchi readied himself to defend against the remaining foe attacking him.

Shameless Roll: [10, 9, 8, 6, 6, 6, 3, 2, 2], [3] Result: 3+1 enhancement from the sword, so it bypasses defense and will deal at least one wound, slaying the target.

1 + melee enhancement 1(2 total) = Shove 1(3 meters) and blind

Fluff:

Try grabbed an interesting two-handed warhammer and hefted it, feeling it's weight. He smiled a slightly manic grin as he moved forward. Once the giants attacked after forming their shields, Tryfon ran up and met with one pair in the middle. He began to swing the hammer, but a bit awkwardly. His timing was off, and thus his shots focused on the shield and not the body of the giant. The sheer weight of the head of the hammer along with Try's strength managed to knock the giant back a few meters and damage the shield a little bit, which cause some ice to fly into the giants eyes.

For a total of 3 Successes on the attack. (+1 from my weapon being Versatile, I *think*)

So just enough to commence stabbing protocols. From Range.

Because apparently that's a thing that just happens when you're good enough.

Master of Weapons putting in some serious work for MVP so far.

Shakily stumbling to her feet, feeling unfortunately like a Tic-tac and distinctly displeased about it, Raiko shakes her head once, forcing the world to stop spinning quite as badly. Leaning heavily against the wall, she makes her way back into the back of the cat once more, coming to rest stand by tenchi's shoulder as he raises the weapon out of the case, eyes widening at the cache now at their feet. ".... the hell did we miss something like that?", hand idly caressing the glossy length of what appeared to be a saber, before lifting the weapon from the case herself, the inlaid hilt and pommel of the blade seeming to glint in the light.

Finally stepping from the wreckage of the iced(heh) cat, she couldn't help but feel far more comfortable with an actual weapon to hand. The shovel was useful, but it didn't quite fit her palm the way a saber would, after hundreds of hours of practice. Facing the giants, she settles into an unorthodox stance, shoulder on and leaning towards the oncoming giants, undrawn sword held in one hand with the other resting on the hilt. The world falls away for a second as she counts her heartbeats, remembering. Distance is an illusion. If she draws her blade, it is not because she intends to strike, but because she has already struck. The blade flashes from it's resting place, and for one second, she and one of the giants are connected through then length of her blade, the Giant gurgling in surprise as her strike takes him in the throat, the head tumbling away into the snow as they are once more seperated by some meters, the body continuing to run several more steps before dropping like a marionette with it's strings cut.

There is something almost viciously satisfied in the set of Raiko's features, despite the stoic set to her countenance as she settles into a more traditional fencing pose, unperturbed by the ice-blue line of ichor now trailing the length of her blade to drip into the snow, the only evidence of the impossibility that just occured.
