SCION: CHAOSIUM! "Awakening"

Nina

Ali did his own double and triple checking of his share of the medical supplies brought from the hotel. The atmosphere was vaguely unnerving. Sure, the winter storm exceeded anything he'd seen before, but this was something else altogether. Unless the strange events of the past few days was affecting his thinking. Well no, the town was dark. Sure, everyone with a lick of sense would be indoors, but the lack of lighting didn't help improve the area. Granted, the simple answer was that power had gone down in the storm.

He finally decided to bow his head and mentally speak a prayer to God, asking for everyone's safety.

“It will take as long as it takes,” Cobb's disembodied voice carried from beneath and behind the furnace, “I told you this would take time. You should have stayed with the others if you were going to be impatient.” Try just grunted, Juno wasn't sure if the grunt was at her or some recalcitrant bolt. She bit off a reply and made a quick assessment of their position.

One door, steel with a metal meshed window. It opened outward, so barricading it was not going to do much good but it had a built on metal locking bar which when set went into the sheds frame. It looked sturdy enough. No other exits except for the large double windows one set into each wall flanking the furnace. Both windows had metal screens bolted on the outside, looking out all she could see was shadow and snow. There were plenty of shelve she could move to cover them up but nothing to actually seal them and while the screens might server to deter thieves for some reason she didn't think that was what she was dealing with.

She began working, first she barred the door and slid the only desk in the shed over in front of it for good measure, then she began moving shelving in front of the windows. Once she was heaving a long book case that held magazines onto it end to set on top of the desk , she caught Cobb watching her from where he had crawled out from the furnace probably wondering what all the noise was. Their eyes locked, then his darted around taking in what she was doing. With a grimace he nodded slightly then slid back under the furnace. Juno heard a mumbled “Hurry up Try, we are running out of time.”

He hadn't said a word to Juno. All of this reminded her of the boat and the samurai. At that thought her mind replayed the events of that night, the Samurai walking toward her, and then she remembered the bartender at the hotel and the way he walked toward them with the coffee thermoses. Her mind superimposed the two thought images into one. What the fuck?

Just then there was a loud bang as something hit the metal door with enough force to rattle the building!

Try looked over at Cobb, "What happened to it'll take how long it'll take? What in the hell is going on out there?"

Cobb just sighed and shook his head, "Just Focus. and Hurry up."

Tryfon doubled down on his speed at the removal of the pump, and then the bang occured. He jumped in place and raised his head, banging it on the piping around the furnace. "OWWWWW! Jesus, Cobb. What the fuck was that?" He shouted to Juno, "What's going on out there, ma'am? Tell me that was the wind, and not an avalanche or something else." He resumed getting the pump out, cursing under his breath the whole time.

Juno didn't answer right away. She had her gun up and aimed at about head height at the door...waiting to take the shot when and if it opened. Meanwhile she was doing a grim inventory.

Twelve in the clip. One extra clip. That wasn't enough, she should have known better, but that was for the debriefing. How many were there? She'd seen one, but that noise seemed too loud for one person banging the door. You needed force for that. Weight.

They weren't making noise. Why weren't they making NOISE? People were vocal, they shouted and cursed and mocked.

"Well," she said grimly, "it's not an avalanche. So one out of three. Cobb...you got anything explosive in here by any chance? Or...flammable?"

Fire. She had a good feeling about fire for this.

The Shed

"Explosive?'

The banging happened again and this time it was followed by the shriek of metal being rent by metal. Juno felt a gust of cold air push its way around the barricade and raised her pistol. The sound of rending metal grew louder and the ex-soldier could hear grunts of effort from beyond the door and  then nothing.

Cobb scurried out from the furnace, "Leave it boy, something else needs our attention!"

Cobb rolled to his feet grabbing a big wrench and stared at the make shift barricade, "No the only thing explosive in here is the furnace and it it goes it will take the gas line as well which will probably level the whole street. What in the hell is going on out here?"

As if to answer the dwarfs question, a growl low and guttural came from the door and grew in volume and pitch to a scream of wrath as the yell grew the sound of metal ripping accompanied it and the whole shed shook and rattled. Try had just dragged himself fee as whatever was out side ripped the door and frame from the shed entirely, he jumped to his feet as the thing outside smashed the makeshift barricade to splinters and stood in the door way stooped and vicious, a great two bladed axe in its left hand the door in its right.

"Jesus Christ," Juno exclaimed, but even as her brain freaked out, her hands executed her trained responses.  A big, clearly inhuman monster it might be, but it had a head and was at point blank range. She adjusted her aim upward and without undue thought or hesitation, pulled the trigger.

Her gun was a beefy one, and the crack it made was especially loud in the confined area of the shed. The shot was true, even in the cold, even as she was struggling to process what she was seeing. A blue-green flower of blood sprouted on the huge man...thing's forehead and immediately leaked what looked to Juno like antifreeze in thick, viscous blurts.

Big and brawny he might have been, but he still needed whatever passed for a brain. The axe fell from his fingers, and he flopped unceremoniously to the ground.

"Jesus CHRIST," repeated Juno. "What the...Cobb, what the FUCK is that?!"

Cobb stared at the dead giant and started to shake, "A... a big... blue... man...thing. How the fuck should I know? Why are you asking me? I just peed my pants!"

"Right." Juno advanced on the fallen giant, eyes flicking between him and the landscape outside...wary of him getting up again, and wary of any friends he might have. Normally she'd go for the double-tap, but with ammo as short as it was... No, that was a killshot. Dead center of the forehead. Another trophy in marksmanship if this had been an exercise. As it was, the trophy was 'getting to live a bit longer.'

"Okay, we need to get out of here. Now. You guys get your shit together and stick close."

Leaning back, Raiko watches her brother as he examines the derelict in front of them, mulling over the words spoken to her by the Bartender. By (her?) Yojimbo. Life may indeed be a test, and one for which the consequences of failing would be dire, but she was nothing if not an attentive student. She takes a deep breath in. She would prepare for it the same way she would any other test. Start broad and then dive into specifics, be open to surprising answers, and take advantage of every resource available to her. And out. With the exhale, there is a certain steel in her spine now that had previously been missing. As if every anxiety and worry was carried away on the breath. Her fingers cease their drumming against her folded arm, the lack of the continuous patter deafening now for it's absence.

Ali finished his prayer and looked up and over at Stacy who was looking toward the front of the vehicle. He took another glance at his kit did a mental inventory then looked out the window to his right expecting to see snow and more snow. That was not what he saw.

At first the shape was lost in the snow maybe it was a darker shadow in the night but something, movement perhaps, locked his eye on it. It took a moment for him to make out the shape, it was a man! Maybe one of the crew from the other cat. Ali was about to call out but something wasn’t right and he hesitated what was wrong with this. The shape, the shadow moved at the edge of his field of vision, he could not see it clearly because of the night and the blowing snow but then  he realized what was wrong. He was looking at it directly if the man had been looking back at him, they would be eye to eye but that was impossible for Ali was sitting in the cat at least six feet off the ground. That would make that person out there about ten feet tall!

Tenchi hopped down off the Cat and grabbed the line leading back to his vehicle. Something made him pause, a tingling up his spine the small hairs on the back of his neck stiffing. The wind. It was different. The howling had been joined with a new sound a sort of keening… then suddenly the distinct sound of a gunshot!

"Juno"   She was the only one that had a gun among them, and his hand went reflexively to what he had, not a knife, but a mountaineer's hammer.  It had been among the cold-weather gear, and he'd thought it might be useful.  The back of the head was a prybar, and with that thought he'd brought it along when he went to the other cat.   The urge to rush back was hard to resist, but if he did he'd potentially cause a messier situation if he got hurt doing so.   While he didn't run, be began moving back one hand holding the hammer, the other holding the line.  He was looking around, on alert, and wondering just what the hell had happened to the other cat.

Tryfon clambered out from behind the furnace and his eyes widened upon seeing the dead body. "What in the hell is that?" He turned to Juno, "Nice shot. Anyone mind if I grab the axe? Another weapon couldn't hurt." He grabbed the axe Wielded by the giant-kin and swung it experimentally a few times, "Looks like it's time to get to the sno-cat." He looked at the snow just past where the door used to be, "Do we want to go after the sno-cat, or just wait for them? I vote for going after them very carefully, and meeting somewhere in the middle if possible."

Ali stared for a moment. This seemed impossible, but then this was a mad night. He got up, but then instinct made him shudder at the loud sounds of his feet hitting the floor. Instead, he crouched and more carefully made his way over. "Ladies," he said in the tones of a man working to keep his head under control, "unbelievable as this may sound, there is currently a ten-foot giant outside to the right of the sno-cat."

Providentially, that was when the gunshot cracked through the air.

Valentine started at the gunshot and gave Ali a wide-eyed look. She looked where he had described, hoping that it was somehow a trick of the snow. Then again, she was in snow right now and that was about as impossible. All color drained from her face when she saw not one of the large creatures, but three

"How far away are the others? They should get back in here. I don't know what those things are, but. . ." she swallowed hard. She wasn't one to scare easily, but her day had now been several whole worlds of weird and she just didn't imagine that giants in a snowstorm were a good thing.

At Ali's comment, Raiko twists around in the seat to get a view out the back window. The three figures out there immediately set her mind racing and worry for her brother mounting. But there was something about the picture that was just eating at her. The giants were coming up over the edge, but they seemed to lack a focus to them. Between the ongoing Blizzard and the way the Snow cat was lit up....

Some sort of decoy? Keep them focused on one place and hit them from another. Or keep them focused here on the giants, and prevent them from getting back to the Town where Juno and the rest were apparently in trouble?

"Something's not right with this. They're being too brazen." she hesitates for a moment, she scrambles across the console to get a look out the other side of the Cat. "Ah. That makes more sense." the two giants on the other side belly crawling towards the Cat. She throws another glance Tenchi's way and sucks in a breath at the final figure she spots there, letting out a sulfurous curse at the sight. "Right. We have problems. We've got some sneaking up on us. We're probably going to have to fight. Hide or help or stay behind us is up to you."

She pushes one of the side doors open and impacts the snow heavily as she leaps down bellowing "Tenchi, on your flank" on the way down. She snags a shovel from the pioneer kit on the side of the Cat, cursing the missing axe. She would need to have a word with the hotel about ensuring their cats safety gear all remains on the actual cat itself.

She hefts the shovel experimentally getting a rough feel for the weight of it before nodding. Not her usual Saber, but she could make do.

Tryfon swung the axe in a few short arcs in front of him, he looked down at the body, it was blue. Not the blue from asphyxia or the blue from extreme cold, but real honest to god blue, even the blood from the holes in its head was blue. Maybe that's why he wasn't freaking out. It didn't seem real.

He stepped up to the door, avoiding the blue blood which was pooled on the floor and didn't seem to be freezing. That was when the spear slammed into the wall about six inches from his head and a god awful wail rose from outside. a quick glance as he stepped back showed four more giant blue men and one female even larger charging the shed!

Stacy stares wide eyed at what is outside the Sno-cat. She has seen a lot of weird shit in her short life and is not a stranger to danger or violence, or even death, but this is like nothing she has ever experienced. She stands up as Raiko opens the front door and hopes down shouting at her brother but she can’t make out what she says as the wind simply whips the girls words away. But what she sees amazes her even more.

Raiko holding the shovel she had grabbed from the pioneer box spins toward the blue skinned man who cannot be real, with a move out of a martial arts movie the shovel spins in her hands like a magical sword, weaving a pattern of death before her.

The slight Asian American woman covers the distance in the deep snow almost dancing atop it the shovel a blur with it spinning movement is almost invisible. The giant tries to parry it with his cumbersome axe but all it achieves is to lose its weapon as Raiko disarms the monster sending the axe flying toward her brother, and then it loses it’s life as Raiko without a though drives the edge of the shovel into its throat nearly severing its head.

The axe lands at Tenchi’s feet but he is too busy to grab it as two of the half giants on that side of the cat have veered toward him and he doesn’t wait. He leaps at the first with the unwieldy hammer and slams it into the monsters temple with a terrible squishy sound and dropping it in its tracks as he spins to face the second…

Across the town at Cobbs Automotive the Half-Giants and the Giantess charge the shed, the Giantess shouting in some strange language that sounds vaguely Scandinavian. The half giants follow her commands and split off into two duos to attack the shed from the flanks.

Juno steps to the side of the door and fires at the giantess, just as the unbelievable thing moves. The round, aimed at the head instead grazes the things neck, which produces a scream of rage!

At the Sno-cats

Everything was happening so fast and was so unbelievable. Raiko lept from the passenger door in the front and was spinning a shovel like it was a sword slicing into the blue man and hurling his weapon away to land near her brother. Tench ignoring the axe instead lunged at the bule men who had come from the right and met them like some ancient warrior from and action movie, he cut one down and defended himself from the other two. But he wasn’t alone for long.

Valentine saw all of this and without really thinking pushed open he right hand door in the passenger side and darted outside the Sno-Cat, having spotted the disarmed axe. She picked it up and gave a wild swing towards the nearest giant - and whiffed completely, cutting only air and snow and found herself face to face with a blue giant standing at least eight foot tall,

It was sudden, it was shocking, but Ali ran out, found the other fallen giant's axe, and came to aid Val. "May God forgive me." He whispered, before burying it in the hamstrings of the giant, before pulling it back and bringing it down in a second chop into its chest as the giant toppled.

Back at the shed the four Half Giants charged the sides of the build at their mistress’s order slamming into the sheet metal walls causing it to shake and rattle. Cobb yelled a note of panic in his voice, “They are going to bring the whole thing down on us!

Tryfon, hefting the axe from the fallen blue man rushed outside and dodged to the right swing the axe more like a baseball bat than the weapon it was but the effect was just as deadly as he buried it into the spine of the nearest blue menace.

Away at the edge of town in the Sno-cat  Stacy watched as Ali bolted outside and take one of the creatures killing it, she was impressed. She glanced to the left and saw three more coming toward them. Slipping a small handgun from her clutch Stacy springs to the door on the left side of the sno-cat and outside to where the strange giant blue men had not been challenged yet.

One outside she falls into a textbook firing stance and squeeze off three rounds at the three advancing weirdos. One of them goes down blue blood oozing from chest wound the rest keep coming.

Kamala was a survivor, and when it came to the violence of a street by street firefight, the key to survival was simple: run, hide, and *then* fight. Running meant going through the ranks of towering warriors that were something out of a quest. Fighting? By the abortive glimpse of Raiko and the others feats, they had that covered. In spades, God help her that thing with the shovel... That left hiding, for now, until the bullets stopped flying, the bombs stopped falling, and it was her turn to wrestle minutes and hours of life from the grasping hands of death. THAT was a fight she knew how to win.

The  two gaints left on that side charged Stacy swinging their battle axes, sheo dodged around to the front of the sno-cat by Raiko, barley avoiding the sweeping blades. On the other side the remaining blue man made and over head chop at Tenchi who turned the axe easily.

At the shed Angwerea saw  another of hers go down and heard the wails of the dead as the others fell she felt a sense of doom and raised a horn to her lips and blew…

A horn sounds wailing across the space from the middle of town to wear the main force of the group fight for their lives against an impossible foe.

Angwerea lowers the horn it's peel ringing the mortal wind calling her kin, and in the same motion hurls her ax at the troublesome human whom dares challenge her in her own element! The ax flies true but the human twists and dodges just before it arrives causing it the bury itself into he wall instead of rending the puny mortal inn twain.

The two blue skinned giants rush at Stacy and Raiko, Stacy empties her pistol at one cutting him down in a spray of blue blood which stains to snow with an eerie luminosity.

On the other side of the Sno-cats, Tenchi nods imperceptibly to everyone save Raiko, and in a display of wordless communication between twins, they acted seemingly of one mind. Tenchi attacked the Giant there by Ali and Val, swinging the mountaineer's axe with savage strength, slicing the monsters belly open spilling all to human, except for the color, looking entrails onto the trampled field of snow.

Ali watches the last threat to Val and himself crumple and seeing there are no more giants near him, spins to see that there is one left threatening Raiko and Stacy! With no though of his own safety, Ali impossibly leads toward the last foe with an uncanny display of agility seemingly running along the top of the snow to throw himself in the giants way catching it by surprise, bringing the ax tearing into its side, cutting it nearly in two! Ali staggers back at the realization of what he has done.

Raiko offers a wordless nod of thanks to Ali as he takes the last Giant as it pelted towards her, noting his clear discomfort and hesitance while doing so. The immediate surroundings clear, she's about to thank him properly when the Horn echoes through the night, leaving her with a feeling like someone had poured ice water down her spine. That was probably not good. Proper thanks could probably wait till they were all fully out of danger. For now, they'd have to get back to the village.

"Tenchi," she bellows over the roaring wind. "Get the lead out, we have to get back. Everyone else, back inside." She moved to help the others back into the truck and get them moving back to the others. Tenchi would handle the driving, he'd get them back, and pity anything that got in between them.

Those outside began moving back toward the warmth of the Sno-cat as the adrenaline began to fade and the cold seeped into replace it. In the cat, Kamala had been watching all of this unfold her mind trying to grasp it and order it into the happenings of this strangest day when something caught her eye.

Outside the unlikely warriors climbed into the Sno-Cat, Tenchi and Raiko using the Pilot House doors while Stacy and Ali climbed in on the left side using the cabin door there, Val found herself struggling with the right side cabin door which seemed frozen shut. She knocked on the window of the door to get Kamala's help and saw the look of horror on the other woman's face and the direction she was looking. Val looked over her shoulder toward the cliff some dozen yards away and saw the Giants clambering over the edge of the cliff, at least a dozen of them maybe more behind, coming in answer to the call of the horn!

At the shed, two of half-giants  on the far side of the shed attack the wall with there axes cutting long gashes into the corrugated metal, the remaining one on the other side spins to face Tryfon and cuts a the nimble human barley missing him.

More monsters, for what else could you call these things, coming and a stuck door between Doctor Valentine and shelter as they were preparing to go. She mouthed the words 'Move' as she stood up and situated her to throw her weight against the faulty egress. No one was getting left behind, especially not the Doctor who was here only because she had answered Kamala's call for aid in a situation when she had all the reasons in the world not to. Not on the Syrian's Midwife watch. She had too many ghosts behind her to let that happen.

So she threw her weight against the door with all the force she could muster.

The Sno-cat door springs open showering Val with splinters of ice.  With a breathless grunt the American doctor throws her self into the vehicle as Kamala pulls the door shut and locks it.

At the shed....

Juno slides back to the doorway and pushes everything in her head away and her concentration narrows to a point. For a second all the chaos has fallen away, and she feels like she's on the range again. Knees and shoulders relaxed. Alert, but not hyper-alert. Behind the giantess she spots a curl of snow wafting in the wind and adjusts her aim slightly. It's...a clarity that falls over her. For a second, she can almost see the path the bullet will take outlined in the air before she even pulls the trigger, like tracers that come before the shot.

The gun goes off, a loud CRACK that pierces the din.

Blood spurts minutely where the bullet enters the giantesses throat leaving a visible hole that trickles a bit more of the thick blue ichor. Behind the giantess however the spray of blood fans out in a wet cloud as the bullet exits the back of the monster’s neck sending blood flesh and bone to cover the snow behind. The creature staggers one hand grasps her throat as she drops the horn from the other and sinks to one knee gasping and gurgling, eyes wide with shock!

The crack of the gun surprises Try as he whirls his axe to cut down the last giant on his side of the Shed, he half turns toward the gun shot and his foot slips in the snow taking him down to one knee only just catching himself  from falling prone with his free arm , a shocked glance up at  his foe shows a huge grin on the malevolent blue face as the giant raises its ax to deliver the killing blow!

Tryfon froze his muscles wouldn't obey all he could do was watch the ax descend then out of nowhere a large wrench swung between him and the killing blade. The wrench caught thte ax haft in its jaws and Cobb yelled in the boys ear, “Off yer ass, son, the real fightin is about to start!”

Elswhere, Tenchi fell into the the Sno-cats driver seat and ignored his seat belt a glance in the rearview mirror assured him that all were aboard and he lammed the heavy tracked vehicle into reverse and floored the accelerator. The Sno-cat shot backward throwing up snow that momentarily obliterated the scene outside the front of the reversing Cat. Tenchi turned as soon as he felt the tracks grab pavment of the road, as the vehicle turned the front view cleared and Tenchi froze momentarily.

Twenty yards away the rear of the other cat was now clearly visible the raging snowfall of the last few hours had all but abated. Beside the abandoned Sno-cat ran the line of the cliff which led down to the snow slopes below, Tenchi gripped the controls tighter.

What he saw made him doubt his sanity, a dozen more of the blue skinned men had reached the top of the cliff and clambered over where they paused and looked at the carnage of their fellows lying dead on the field of snow now stained with unearthly blue blood which didn't freeze. The half giants raised their hads to the sky and wailed a cry of grief which promised revenge. But that wasn't what caused Tenchi to doubt himself, for regardless of the blue skin and large size, they were still men, the dead littering the snow proved that.

What crawled over the edge of the cliff behind them was in no way shape or form, human.

At the shed the Giantess her voice destroyed by Juno's gunfire growled and the two giants attacking the side of the shed ran back to her one of them grabbing the ax the giantess had thrown from the wall of the shed.

The remaining half-giant at the shed was trying to retreat but was still engaged with both Cobb and Tryfon who had regained his feet.

Ok in the sno cat you may post as you see fit it will take a couple of minutes (about three round, compressing time) to get to the shed so Juno and try get three rounds to finish off the giantess and her boys there. y'all can post fluffy stuff

"We can't do anything against that thing, or those numbers.  We have to head back to the others."   Tenchi practically growled out.  He was not happy to be leaving any potential survivors behind, but he had to think about those in the cat with him.   "Damn."   He spun the wheel and got the Snowcat moving back towards town.   "I hope the others are alright, I know they're fighting too, else we'd not hear gunfire."

"None of this makes any damn sense."

"I have to agree." Ali said. "And I have the distinct impression this is the reason we haven't encountered any survivors so far. If there are any, they are certainly not outside, and it looks like these creatures haven't broken in anywhere, so people should be safe." Ali made the cross. "I suspect it does make sense, at least to the people in the hotel who sent us out here. They have to explain."

Stacy stared back at the blue men and the new thing, her hand tightening on the grip of her small pistol. She should be freaking out, she though, we all should be. How can this be real?

The Sno-cat turned sharply and smashed through a fence driving through someones backyard, the swing-set proving no match for the tracked behemoth as it rolled over it and slipped between two houses. Tenchi had Decided to take the most direct rout to where the others had been left. He just hoped they weren't too late.

Try's ax nearly split the Half Giant in half and covered him in the creatures blue blood, Juno dashed out to cover them firing her pistol at the remaining things, one going down while the larger female and the last slipped into an ally taking cover there. “Back in the shed! Hurry” Juno yelled as she dug her one and only spare clip out of her pocket.

“Those things are not human! What are they?” Cobbs voice held an edge of panic that was at odds with his gruff appearance and the oversized wrench in his hands.

“I don't know. Tryfon, see if you can get the other group on the phone,” Juno tosses the blue-blood covered young man her phone, “Just hit redial it's set for Raiko.”

Tryfon tried but couldnt get an answer so he texted and got a reply. “They are on the way but said to be ready to get in the cat as they are being chased.”

“By who?”

“She didn't say.”

Juno kept the giantess undercover with a warning shot when ever it or her last surviving hench-thing showed itself.

A few minutes passed and they heard the sound of the diesel engine and a horn blowing.

A few minutes passed and they heard the sound of the diesel engine and a horn blowing.

Try looked over at the giantess and hench-being, as they hid carefully around the corner of the alley. He was startled when the phone in his hand buzzed. The text read, "We're in front. Get out here now. Hurry." Tryfon relayed the message, and looked down at Cobb. "I'm sorry if this is rude, but I think I should carry you. Don't want you trailing behind."

Cobb swallowed, nodded, and climbed up on a chair that was in the remains of the shed. Tryfon knelt down, and Cobb grabbed around Try's neck and shoulders as he clambered up his back. Try then stood up, looked over at Juno, and sighed. "I think we need to leave... NOW. I'll go first, then you. Keep running, don't worry if they start coming. We need to make it in, fast."

Tryfon texted Raiko's phone, "We're heading out now." and put the phone in his pocket. He then took off through the snow as fast as possible, heading for the front of the shop, Cobb bouncing on his back. The axe from the giant still in his hands, he presented an absurd picture as he ran.

Try with Cobb on his back darted from the shed, Juno followed emptying her gun at the Giants hiding place as cover fire. The snow had been tramples down so while slick it offered no resistance. The one half-giant hurled his axe at her but it went wide.

Try did not slow for the door just barreled right through it knocking it from its frame Juno on his heels. The Hal-giant started after them, but the giantess held him back.

They rushed through the shop and into the showroom where they could see the big Sno-cat parked idling by the door. In moments they were outside and clambering into the waiting vehicle, Tenchi didn’t even wait from them to find seats he just floored the accelerator, and the lumbering cat spun its tracks and shot off up the road.

Tenchi kept his eyes on the road ahead while Reiko scan behind to see if they were coming. Everyone was talking all at once trying to tell their version of what had happened when down the road about fifty meters a house exploded as the Ice Troll smashed through it and onto the road. Without slowing the Troll skid to a stop and with a full spin hurled its spiked club at the Sno-cat!

Tenchi tried to swerve but the cat just wasn’t built like that, and the club slammed into the front grill with a crash and ice exploded from it to incase the whole front of the Sno-cat!

The engine died and the tracks locked, Tench fought it as its momentum turned into a wild skid smashing into cars and light posts, tossing around the occupants and rattling them, until it finally came to a stop. The whole front third of the Sno-cat was encased in several inches of Ice. Th cat had come to a stop at and angle and the could see the Troll (instinctively some of them put this name on it although none of them could have said why)    it roared in anger or defiance and stretched out its arm and there was aa terrible rending sound at the front of the cat as the club, embedded in the engine and ice tore free and flew back the creatures open hand. And as he caught it the half-giants poured around him and charged at the Sno-cat!

Spoiler

We will use the same initiative order as before.

Half-giants are still 1 def and one shot kills.

the troll is defense 4 and everything else is gonna be a surprise  😛

When the sno-cat was skidding and bouncing around one of the storage bins (like on an air liner) sprung open and a case of some sort fell out the case is black  made of aluminum and is fifty inches long, about 15" wide and maybe 8" thick.  it almost hit Kamala on the head.

Seeing the effects of that club hitting the Sno-cat, and then seeing the troll work it like Thor from the movies gave Juno a real pause. Up until now, this had been a firefight. She couldn't explain why the opposition was blue and huge, but the tactics and situation were familiar. That was all out the window now. If it threw that club and hit someone, that someone would be frozen solid. And then it'd just Skywalker the club back into its hand and do it again. It wasn't warfare now, it was a wizard duel...and Juno didn't have a wand or anything.

They could take cover, but the troll had already demonstrated it could just bulldoze through houses, so they couldn't keep under cover without keeping on the move. And they had no way back to the resort now, unless the other Sno-cat still worked.

"Focus on the other ones," Juno called. "Clear the field so they can't hem us in. We need to keep out of the big guy's field of fire until we figure out how to deal with him!"
